P&P 600: Fullness of God - Tuesday Praise & Pray (for others) August 25, 2026

The term "fullness of life" often triggers thoughts of wealth - a house, a car, financial abundance. These aren't bad things to think about or pray for, and God isn't interested in depriving the righteous of any good thing (Psalm 84:11). However, it is time to consider God's perspective on what a full life looks like, because the sooner we do so, the quicker we will experience what that truly means.

Ephesians 1:22-23 says that Jesus "fills everything in every way." He is the one who comes into our lives to complete it (Colossians 2:10). Before we gave our lives to Him, something was missing. There was an emptiness we didn't know how to erase. Some tried to fill that space up with alcohol, drugs, fornication, social media, and chasing money. However, once we opened the door to let Him in, we realized that He was what we'd been looking for the whole time.

In Ephesians 3:19, we are also told that through Jesus, believers receive the fullness of God. This makes sense because Jesus said, The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10). When we have Jesus, God becomes the foundation of our lives. He becomes our Shepherd (Psalm 23:1). He takes responsibility for us and leads us to what we need, when we need it.

We are told in John 1:16 - For out of His fullness [the superabundance of His grace and truth] we have all received grace upon grace [spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift] (AMP). The fullness we receive, therefore, means nothing is lacking spiritually in our lives. We get to participate in His divine nature and be more like Him (2 Peter 1:4). It means that we, the children of God who are led by His Spirit, are deputized to operate in His authority, doing what He did in this world plus the greater works He promised in John 14:12.

Alas, most of us Christians are so busy addressing the troubles of life that we struggle to prioritize our spiritual gifts and authority. Our attention is typically focused on our physical needs and especially on what we don't yet have. This makes us discontent and unhappy with God. And when that happens, our relationship with Him fractures and weakens so His concerns aren't as important as our own. And that's satan's design. Its goal is to distract us so we fail to operate in the fullness of life we've received through Jesus Christ.

In order not to backslide and so we live in God's fullness, we must have Jesus at the center of our hearts. It is the love of Jesus and the knowledge of this truth that will ensure that we each are filled to the measure with God and everything that ensures we can live a rich and rewarding life. We need to return to our first love and be restored with the joy of His salvation (Psalm 51:12). We have to remember what we were rescued from and the obstacles God brought down for us.

Go back to the drawing board - what did you do when you first encountered Jesus? You likely studied the Bible more than you do now. You probably gave more praise and prayed more often than now. Did you fast more regularly then? Was your capacity for faith and expectations higher? Then, what happened? What changed? Could it be that waiting for the fulfillment of certain desires and needs left you disappointed? Did this become 'hope deferred,' which dimmed your love for Jesus and the Lord (Proverbs 13:12)?

The waiting season wasn't meant to punish you. Your journey to the Promised Land was designed to remove what has to go from you, the sin habits that keep you from walking in right standing with God. He wants you to live a blameless and righteous life that will sustain His gift; that way you will pass it on to those who follow you. Only the blameless will remain in the land, and that's what God is building you to be as you wait. We don't realize He's waiting on us to become so much more than we are, so we can be vessels used to accomplish great things on earth and in the heavens.

Don't let satan's lies convince you that delay is denial or that God won't come through for you in the end. Ephesians 3:20 says He will do immeasurably more than you asked for or could imagine if you carry His Spirit. You pay for all of this with the currency of faith and patience. You must remember why you chose God in the first place because there is a choice to make. Do what will make you look more like Christ - show love, be kind in how you speak of and how you treat people, give to the poor and needy, stand for justice and not just for those who agree with you or are like you.

The Holy Spirit is charged with helping us do these things and so much more. And when we cooperate with Him, satan has less power to send us from pillar to post, frightened and unsettled about the problems God called us to leave at His feet (Psalm 55:22). Remember that through Jesus, we have the fullness of life, but this depends on our spiritual condition. When the spiritual aspect of our lives is filled with the Lord and His truth, we start to reflect His splendor. We start to live in the fullness of God, where we aren't casualties of life, but those who see things submit to the word of God and the name of Jesus.
