It's the day before 2022!! I don't know about you but I'm excited for what God is going to do. I'm excited to see what He has in store. I look forward to miracles in the lives of my loved ones and answers to prayers. I believe God wants to do great things for us and I stand on His word in Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
All that excitement doesn't change the fact that before we step into the new year, there are things we need to do as children of God. Since last week, we've discussed creating resolutions on how we want to change and grow spiritually in 2022. However, we also need to stop and take stock of what God has done for us in 2021. I don't know about you, but God has been incredible to me. He's made provision, brought about miracles, and given me cause to sing and dance. Not just because He made things happen in my life, but by the things I've seen Him do in the lives of other people, as well. I have shared my testimonies here and in the testimony thread. God is faithful!
So, what has God carried you through? What testimony has He given to you? How has He resolved an issue for you? And if not for you, what about someone you know? How has He helped you become better through the course of 2021?
If we don't acknowledge how far we've come, we'll fail to recognize God for what He's done for us. We'll ignore how He got us from 'there' to 'here'. We'll mistakenly think that we are the reason for the good things we've seen in our lives. That sort of hubris is the downfall of any man and we don't want to start 2022 in a manner that leads to failure for the word states in Proverbs 29:23 - Pride brings a person low, but the lowly in spirit gain honor.
Acknowledge God now so you know that He's brought you this far and that in the new year, He'll take you even farther.
Join us as we spend today's fellowship hour in worship of the God who's brought us through a wild year. Come ready to testify to His glory. As we're going to shut things down with our raucous praise, this will offer us the perfect opportunity to intercede in prayer for others. His ears will be well-attuned to us after creating an atmosphere of thanksgiving. Therefore, also come ready to pray for people. Be sure to put your own needs to the side and think about those who need God's intervention right now and in the new year.
Have a happy and blessed new year!
