Physical vs. Spiritual Needs - Tuesday Praise & Pray (for others) August 11, 2026
We primarily concentrate on our physical condition. For instance, what shall we eat or wear? However, Jesus taught us not to worry because God will take care of us (Matthew 6:25-34). As such, God is primarily concerned with our spiritual condition. His attention is on whether we are letting His Spirit lead us to heaven. And when we take our eyes off God's concern for our souls, we engage in carnality.
Thankfully, the Lord understands that we won't always share His focus. This is why He is patient with us, waiting years in many cases for us to see life differently. He sent Jesus for this reason - to die for us while we were yet sinners (Romans 5:8). He was a sacrifice made on our behalf - an avenue toward redemption.
As such, there is grace for those who have been conditioned by the trials of life to prioritize their daily worries over the concerns of the Lord. And we should take advantage of it through repentance and changing our ways. We have to change by trusting the Lord to take care of us and help us navigate life's struggles, such as health problems, financial insufficiency, and insecurity.

The more we trust God to care for us, the more we notice how He cares for us. And as this happens, our thoughts increasingly turn toward the spiritual. We become less carnal, more focused on what God wants and how we can give that to Him. We become increasingly heaven-centered, and He sends His Spirit to guide us every step of the way to eternity with Him.
This is not to say that the troubles of this world will cease. Remember, Jesus warned that those who believe in Him would be challenged (Matthew 10:22). However, He promised never to leave those who cling to Him (2 Kings 2:4). And that's the thing. When the enemy sends challenges our way to discourage us from following Jesus, the Savior will surround us and guide us to green pastures by still waters where we can find rest (Psalm 23:2). It is crucial to keep our eyes on Him, not the chaos designed to tear us from the Lamb of God.
The Lord knows what we need. He is not ignorant of what it means to be human. We must remember this and know that we are more important than the sparrows that God cares for. He will therefore never stop caring for us. We need to submit to Him, accepting that this means He will not always address our physical concerns first. Instead, He will hone in on our spiritual needs and feed them.
As you await fellowship at Noon EST, consider reading the Altar Call below and the following previous P&P messages:

ALTAR CALL
If you are yet to give your life to Christ, don't let this moment go by without doing so. And if you've backslidden and are living as you like instead of how God wants you to, now is the time to recommit.
It is time to repent and return to the Lord. It is time to commit yourself to living by His word and submit to having Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
Look, the video below will do a better job explaining things than I can, and it's only 8 minutes long. Yup, there are no cliff notes, please just watch.
If you watched the video to the end and said the prayer at the end, then welcome to being a child of God! You are now a born-again Christian! I pray you receive the Holy Spirit and are led in the ways of the Lord. Send me a message letting me know you said the prayer. I'll send you more materials so you can grow as a new creature, washed clean and restored.
Regardless, please make prayer a regular part of your life. It is simply you talking to the Lord. Also, please start reading the Bible and ask God to make it come alive for you. It holds all the answers you need. You can start by reading the Epistle of John, the Book of Acts, and the Book of Romans. Get water baptized as quickly as you can and ask God to lead you to a church of His choosing.
Congrats and God bless you!
