Who Controls Your Mind? - Friday Praise & Pray (for others) June 12, 2026

"A mind is a terrible thing to waste". We've heard that saying for years, and it is a great saying that continues to make so much sense. Today, however, let's reflect on the subject of this adage by taking a slightly different slant that could change the way you use that mind of yours.

The Bible instructs Christians to guard their hearts because whatever lies within will determine the course of one's life (Proverbs 4:23). We also understand that what we meditate on thinking about will come out of our lips (Matthew 15:18). And because the tongue is powerful, the wrong thoughts can produce the wrong proclamations, which tend to negatively impact our lives and the lives of those we have authority to speak over (Matthew 15:19).

Now consider this: given how powerful your thought life can be, have you fully submitted it to the Lord? Does He get to impact or…

ALTAR CALL

If you are yet to give your life to Christ, don't let this moment go by without doing so. And if you've backslidden and are living as you like instead of how God wants you to, now is the time to recommit.

It is time to repent and return to the Lord. It is time to commit yourself to living by His word and submit to having Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Look, the video below will do a better job explaining things than I can, and it's only 8 minutes long. Yup, there are no cliff notes, please just watch.

If you watched the video to the end and said the prayer at the end, then welcome to being a child of God! You are now a born-again Christian! I pray you receive the Holy Spirit and are led in the ways of the Lord. Send me a message letting me know you said the prayer. I'll send you more materials so you can grow as a new creature, washed clean and restored.

Regardless, please make prayer a regular part of your life. It is simply you talking to the Lord. Also, please start reading the Bible and ask God to make it come alive for you. It holds all the answers you need. You can start by reading the Epistle of John, the Book of Acts, and the Book of Romans. Get water baptized as quickly as you can and ask God to lead you to a church of His choosing.

Congrats and God bless you!

The Lazy Slothful Sluggard - Tuesday Praise & Pray (for others) June 9, 2026

We often are very clear that lying, stealing, fornication, and hypocrisy are wrong, but how many of us are aware that laziness is a sin? What about slothfulness or being a sluggard? Are we even familiar with those latter terms?

The Bible tells us that there is a set time for everything (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8). It also tells us that those who use those set times appropriately are wise and will reap a reward. Consider Proverbs 20:4 - Sluggards do not plow in season; so at harvest time they look but find nothing. A lazy, sluggardly person will not use the seasons to achieve what they should, and they will therefore not reap when harvest time comes.

Proverbs 10:5 - He who gathers crops in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son. Why would someone sleep during the harvest period? Why, after sowing seed…

Don't Be Easily Manipulated - Friday Praise & Pray (for others) June 5, 2026

Back in the 1st century AC, a slick-tongued businessman named Demetrius roused the silversmiths of Ephesus into a rage. In no time, the entire city was in an uproar, with the people making their way to the theater where they gathered. Their anger swelled, a living thing that fed the crowd for hours, their yells rising like a crescendo, though many present had no idea what was going on (Acts 19:32).

Here's what was happening: Demetrius was angry that Paul and his fellow disciples were convincing Ephesians that they didn't need silver statues of Diana, the deity they worshiped. He encouraged them instead to believe in Jesus and the Lord, who wanted their hearts, not the money spent on purchasing statues for rituals.

As can be expected, Demetrius noticed that his profits had been impacted by Paul's preaching. With a few targeted words, he swayed others to march through the…

The Rahab Blessing - Tuesday Praise & Pray (for others) June 1, 2026

When Joshua sent two spies to Jericho, they ended up at Rahab's home. Understanding that something major was coming, she protected the spies from being captured by her king. She went one step further, negotiating for the safety of herself and all who were of concern to her. These actions may not seem like much, but they teach us a lot about our faith and the God we believe in.

She told the spies that her people were afraid because they'd heard how the God of Israel brought them out of slavery and helped them achieve other exploits. Joshua 2:11 - When we heard of it, our hearts melted in fear, and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below. Rahab was wise and wanted to be on the winning side. She wanted protection from the God who'd proven Himself…

That All May Praise Him - Friday Praise & Pray (for others) May 29, 2026

We often forget that God's blessings and miracles typically have a purpose. We think it's all about Him doing what we asked for. However, in many, if not most, cases, the experiences we testify about serve a greater goal, and one of them is to get other people to praise Him.

It shouldn't be a surprise that God wants people to praise Him. This is precisely why satan got jealous and rebelled. The devil wanted the adoration God receives because of His greatness. Think about it, all of creation praises Him so much, a stone could replace us if we chose not to (Luke 19:40). The Bible tells us that all were created for His glory (Isaiah 43:7). We therefore can't expect Him not to desire glory from those He created in His image to honor Himself.

And glorifying God was part of the miracle that happened when a lame man was healed in the name…

Praise God For The Tough Times - Tuesday Praise & Pray (for others) May 26, 2026

Can we be honest? Most sane people don't look forward to suffering. It hurts and drags our emotions into the gutter. The tough times are often so extreme that many of us struggle to get out of bed. After all, who wants to deal with that reality?

However, I couldn't help but notice that the Bible featured people thanking God for their struggles. King David said in Psalm 119:71 - My suffering was good for me, for it taught me to pay attention to your decrees (NLT). Then Paul taught in James 1:2 - Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds.

And the apostles rejoiced "that God counted them worthy to suffer disgrace for the name of Jesus" (Acts 5:4). And this was after they'd been flogged! Of course, we know that Paul and Silas even submitted to grave maltreatment in Philippi, where they were…

Do You Belong To Christ? - Friday Praise & Pray (for others) May 22 2026

Do we actually belong to Christ, and would He claim us as His? Do we bear His name? These questions aren't ridiculous. Don't forget Matthew 7, where the Savior taught that many who call Him Lord will not enter heaven on judgment day. This includes those who did signs and wonders in His name. He will nevertheless reject them because they did not do the will of God, the Father (Matthew 7:21-23).

That warning has encouraged me to maintain a healthy fear of the Lord. It keeps me from doing things that seem normal to those who don't yet fear Him. The possibility of being a Christian who misses heaven has encouraged me to submit myself all the more to God's word and His Spirit.

And it is this latter point that can interfere with many Christians' ability to enter heaven. Many of us resist Christ's instruction to receive and…

How To React To Testimonies - Tuesday Praise & Pray (for others) May 19, 2026

Have you ever heard or read someone's testimony about what God did for them and felt your stomach sour?  Maybe there was a little jealousy as you realized what you'd been waiting for God to do was taking longer than expected. In that case, your reaction had nothing to do with the person or even what they are sharing. Or could it be that hearing what God did for someone brought up negative emotions and thoughts about the Lord and the person who shared what He did for them?

Such things can happen because of a deep desire to see God help you, too. And still, I want to encourage anyone who has had this experience to guard against it because if such feelings fester, they can create a barrier to our prayers. Any discontentment or impatience should be controlled. Another person's testimony should spur us to keep praying and trusting the Lord for the fulfilment…

The Spirit of Jealousy - Friday Praise & Pray (for others) May 15, 2026

Our first encounter with jealousy in the Bible is with the story of Adam's sons, Cain and Abel. Both men made offerings to God, but Cain became jealous because his brother's offering pleased God more than his. An envious spirit wrapped itself around his heart and squeezed until one day, he attacked his only sibling, killed him, and was cursed by the Lord to struggle and wander the earth (Genesis 4:10-12).

Before the murder, God had warned Cain about what jealousy was doing to him, saying, "sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it” (Genesis 4:7). Cain likely didn't quite understand how powerful jealousy was and how it would play out. Most people are no different, underestimating what jealousy can do in a person's heart. It is an evil snake seeking to drive them to sin. This is why God doesn't…
