Having learned about the Shield of Salvation and Favor, we now turn to another Shield mentioned in the Bible. The Shield of Faith is an additional tool in the Christian's arsenal. It is given by God to empower His children and shame the devil.
We are taught in Ephesians 6:16 - In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
The Shield of Faith is part of the Armor of God that His children are called to wear as we walk through life and experience some of its troubles. These troubles come our way because we chose Jesus to be our Lord and Savior and came under the banner of God Almighty, His Father. In making that choice, we stepped into a war and became victorious soldiers in the successful army of the Lord. And as He is the Master Strategist and Mighty Man of War, He hasn't left us without what we need for every battle. His Armor protects us from everything the devil throws our way, and the Shield is an essential part of that outfit.
As well-equipped fighters, we must lift up the Shield of Faith, applying our faith in God as part of our armor against the weapons of satan. As we position our faith between us and the fiery darts of the enemy, we submit to God and we resist the enemy. In so doing, we honor God's word in James 4:7 - Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Therefore, by putting the Shield of Faith to work, we cause the devil to flee because it must obey the word of God Almighty.

And the more we lift the Shield of Faith, the more satan must fall back, unable to achieve its goals against us. This is what satan does not want the children of God to know, that they have everything needed to put it in its place, which is under their feet.
There's a good reason Jesus taught believers that we have all authority over all of satan's power in Luke 10:19. As we apply God's word, knowing that the blood of Jesus purchased that authority for us, we lift the Shield of Faith against the lies satan screams at us. Those lies include the deception that God cannot save us, that God will not help us, or that we have sinned so much and are unredeemable.
The devil lies with every breath, and it is key to understand some of the ways it speaks so that we are armed to submit to God and easily resist the enemy of our soul. The more we know how powerless the devil is, the more we lift the Shield of Faith and put the accuser to shame, all while pleasing our Heavenly Father and reaping blessings. We also silence satan's lies in the process, effectively shutting it up and binding it from continuing with its evil schemes.
It is for us to choose, each day, to serve God. We need to open our Bibles and study them with the Holy Spirit as our guide. We need to spend time interceding for others, submit to fasting, help those in need, and apply the Royal Law by treating others as we want to be treated. As we do these things, we'll realize that God will create opportunities to prove He is worthy of our trust. And as we walk on that journey, our faith in Him increases and we increasingly learn how to place our Shield of Faith between ourselves and the evil satan sends our way. We will ever resist it and glorify God in the process. Praise the Lord!
